Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Sacandaga River - East Branch; you're sure to encounter some good folks from Gloversville here. Shiras Pond is a magnificent place to visit for more than one day, Northhampton Beach Recreation is a magnificent place to camp nearby; the top of Georgia Mountain is easily distinguished from Shiras Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Since       you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Cod Pond, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Oregon Trail. At Shiras Pond through the days of summer highs are in the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Shiras Pond. If you come at the right time of year, Georgia Brook offers some delightful                  whitewater, and swamps like Cotter Swamp are fun to explore. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Going for a hike along the Hamilton Mountain Fire Tower Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Rainbows End is a great campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The yearly precipitation here at Shiras Pond is about average; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Shiras Pond is one of the lakes here in the Adirondack Mountains. And if that's not sufficient there's a load more cool things to do in the Adirondack Mountains.
