The beauty of Sherrill Reservoir is reason enough to stop by. A tremendous nearby hotel is Vernon Downs Gaming Facility, and Mohawk River is a good whitewater spot close by. If you need a location to stay Oneida Super 8 Motel is a fine choice; a great spot for whitewater paddling is Fish Creek - East Branch. Stay the night at Peaceful Pines Campground; a delightful lake like Baker Reservoir is a good place to pop by.

Villages Of The Turning Stone is a pleasant campground nearby, and the views at Fort Stanwix National Monument will blow your mind. This lake is so wonderful. Mud Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at, and lakes are such serene spots, why not explore Sunset Lake.

My family used to own this lake, as well as the majority of the property surrounding it. I grew up fishing this pond as a child (as well as deer hunting around it. Excellent bass and good perch fishing. However, we sold most of the property a few years back. Unfortunately, there is no fishing open to the public. However, most of the surrounding property is now privately owned and operated as summer camp for underprivaledged kids (my grandparents are surely smiling from above because of this).
