Why not take a refreshing hike along the Williams Trail, and get your pulse rate up on the magnificent whitewater of Hoosic River. Shaver Pond gets a typical amount       of yearly rain; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily May, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. There's delightful hiking along the Southeast Hollow Trail; dry warm beds await you at Jiminy Peak. This lake is so wonderful. A good location for whitewater paddling next to Shaver Pond is Poesten Kill River. Jiminy Peak has perfect slopes and a friendly staff; Jericho Valley Inn is a great place to get some rest.                  Hiking is a popular thing to do around Shaver Pond; Taconic Crest Trail is a fine local trail, and Second Pond is a nearby lake that you could check out. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Willard Mountain, and you can stay the night at Broken Wheel Campground. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Shaver Pond. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's.
