Cold Brook flows through this vicinity, and you get a wonderful sight of Ampersand Mountain from here. You can run the rapids of Cold River close to Second Pond, and if the weather is nice, you can go for a hike along the Schwartz Trail. Be careful coming to the Adirondack Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. You're most likely hooked on lakes, Lower Saranac Lake is one of those nearby; going for a hike along the       Indian Pass Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Enjoy a round of golf at Saranac Lake Golf Club not far from Second Pond, and nearby you come across Crescent Bay. So much exciting stuff in the vicinity of Second Pond, definitely unbelievable. Ausable River - West Branch is a great whitewater spot near Second Pond. That right there is a lot of cool things already but it goes on, the Adirondack Mountains has it all. Having a pleasant time at Second Pond is simple. Donaldson George A and Sons is a delightful campground nearby, and Mount Pisgah is a brilliant local ski area. Second Pond is a wet place that gets a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. The slopes of Whiteface Mountain are so inviting noone can resist, and if you need a place to stay THE HOTEL SARANAC is a good choice. This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. During the warm months, highs regularly are in the 70's at Second Pond. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Second Pond dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
