This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Second Lake, you'll locate Mud Pond which is a beautiful lake, and you can run the rapids of Rock River. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Second Lake sink into the 0's. While you're here at Second Lake you can take a hike along the Northville Lake Placid
Trail, and why not visit close by Donnelly Brook if you're here at Second Lake.
Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by First Lake, and there's whitewater on Indian River for all you thrill seekers. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Second Lake; all through August this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest. Man, is there loads of cool things

to do in close proximity to Second Lake. Second Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Cedar Pond Campground is a good local campground, and magnificent skiing awaits you at Gore Mountain.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. Camping at Hoss's Country Campground is always a perfect experience, and if the weather is glorious, you can go for a hike along the Sucker Brook Trail. And if that's not enough there's plenty more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains.

Northville Lake Placid Trail
Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-...
