Do stop by Sand Lake while you're in this part of New York. Sand Lake is located in the Adirondack Mountains. So many enjoyable things to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not sufficient time. Really great skiing awaits you at McCauley Mountain, and don't leave Sand Lake without first going for a hike along the Twin Lakes Trail. Summer at Sand Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Daytime

| | highs during the wintertime are in the 20's while Sand Lake overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's.
Do schedule some time to check out Brooktrout Point next to Sand Lake if you have a chance, and wonderful hiking is available along the Stone Dam Trail. Sand Lake is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. There's no way somebody can get bored | |

here in the Adirondack Mountains. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Sand Lake; Forty Mountain Trail is a fine local trail, and there are some nice whitewater spots on Black River.
Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but
if it's for you then we recommend Black River - South Branch, and Grindstone Creek is in close proximity to Sand Lake and is always a diversion to explore. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at
nearby Woods Valley. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Nicks Lake Campgrounds, and not far from Sand Lake you'll stumble on Little Woodhull Lake which is a beautiful lake.
You just can't picture the amount of outdoors
entertaining things the area close to Sand Lake has to offer. There's so much to do here at Sand Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Singing waters Campground is a great place for that, and there are other spots here than Sand Lake, for example Chub Pond.
