Do stop by Pine Pond while you're in this part of New York. This lake is so wonderful. Very scenic scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Whiteface Mountain, and do take a hike on the Indian Pass Trail. Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. Gotta ski! Mount Pisgah is a pleasant place to do that; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Ausable River - West Branch. Through the summer months at Pine Pond
temperatures are generally in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Pine Pond through the wintertime usually fall into the 0's.
This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. This is a popular place for folks from Malone, and playing golf is lots of fun at Saranac Lake Golf Club. If you came to camp Donaldson George A and Sons

is a splendid place to do that, and after a long day outdoors Woodlake Inn is a great place to spend a night or two. Pine Pond is good enough to spend more than a day at, Pioneer Village is a good local campground; Best Western Mountain Lake Inn is a delightful location to get some rest.
Not far from Pine Pond, you'll come across Owl Pond which is a pretty lake, and Pine Pond is right by the McKenzie Pond Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Little Pine Pond; hey, Cold Brook is a nice local stream. And if that's not enough there's loads more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Cold River, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Van Hoevenberg Trail.
If you like the outdoors, you'll adore Pine Pond. Pine Pond gets a typical amount of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful.

Whiteface Mountain
20 miles away
With the greatest vertical drop in the east at 3,166 feet, very few resorts do this better than Whiteface. With long runs over three separate, yet connected areas, you'll spend maximum time on the snow and minimum time on the lifts.
There's also Little Whiteface with almost 2,500 vertical feet. And don't forget Kids Kampus which has separate lifts, lodge, ticketing, rentals, snowsports school and child care. This is an outstanding experience for young beginners in a low-key, safe environment.
A new area opens during 2008/2009 season. Lookout Mountain looms over the horizon covered with pristine snow. For centuries this is how it has been. Until now. This season, Lookout Mountain will be yours for the first time. This means miles of new trail. Literally undiscovered country for you to fall in love with. Whiteface has another face, so Lookout.
