Adirondack Mountains, too great to be true. If you get bored of Pine Lakes, you could also stop at close by Gilman Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Sacandaga River - Middle Branch.
At Pine Lakes all through the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Pine Lakes temperatures
descend to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Elm Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit, and a tour to Long Level revives the spirit. From a precipitation point of view Pine Lakes is a pretty normal place; through the month
of August you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. What a place this is for outdoors people. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Sucker Brook Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; some close by water includes Pine Point Brook.

Buckhorn Lake
 | 12 miles away Buckhorn Lake is a private Association Lake located 2 miles north of Unadilla, New York (in Otsego County). Very friendly towns folk and this lake holds the New York State Record for a Large Mouth Bass caught in 1994. The lake is fed by many underground springs but is not ery deep. Makes for a lovely, though short drive around it.... |
Northville Lake Placid Trail
 | 16 miles away Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
