Gilbert Lake State Park
 | As a child my Mom and Dad took 2 weeks to take us 4 Kids camping and always we would wind up at Gilbert Lake. This year I am taking my 4 year old neice. I want her to grow up with all the great memories that I have of this Park. It has alway been clean and the people who work the park have always been outstanding. You can never get bored at this park there is always some sort of event going on and if nothing is scheduled well there is great fishing, hiking, great photogoraphy shots, a frisbee course and lots more. Most of the other campers are freindly and welcome conversation. I say go and start your own family tradition, I am proud it has been mine for over 30 years.... |

 | 16 miles away Attention, the brook / Treadwell creek is not paddle-able 80% of the time. The other 20% would be too dangerous. In addition, the brook is going through private land much of the way. The brook is good for fishing, but forget any kind of boating.... |
Poolville Pond
 | 18 miles away My family used to own this lake, as well as the majority of the property surrounding it. I grew up fishing this pond as a child (as well as deer hunting around it. Excellent bass and good perch fishing. However, we sold most of the property a few years back. Unfortunately, there is no fishing open to the public. However, most of the surrounding property is now privately owned and operated as summer camp for underprivaledged kids (my grandparents are surely smiling from above because of this). You should check out the ''Camp Fiver'' website....My family used to own this lake, as well as the majority of the property surrounding it.
