at Oceola Lake there are plenty of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, and a quick journey to Barger Brook is unquestionably a good idea. The high level of precipitation makes Oceola Lake a relatively wet location; most of
the rain falls through May while January is usually the driest month. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Wappinger Creek.
Don't leave Oceola Lake without first going for a hike along the Stillwell Lake Trail; dry warm beds await you at Edith Macy Conference Center.
