    Beautiful Muskrat Pond has much to offer visitors. One of the principal marks of the surroundings of Muskrat Pond is Twin Mountain; why not take a refreshing hike along the Sixmile Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Muskrat Pond is good enough to spend more than a day at, Higley Flow State Park is a good local campground, and folks from Ogdensburg-Massena love to come here. Muskrat Pond is a good spot of common rain; all through August this area sees the  
   most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
This place, the Adirondack Mountains, has so much outdoors cool stuff. There's so much to do here at Muskrat Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Robinson's Iga is a nice site for that. Do explore Heath Pond near Muskrat Pond, it's a gorgeous lake, and the The Loop offers hiking at its best. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Adirondack Mountains. You can run the rapids
 
               of Oswegatchie River - East Branch near Muskrat Pond, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Muskrat Pond; Post Henderson Trail is a splendid local trail.
If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Muskrat Pond. Playing golf is lots of fun at Clifton-Fine Golf Course, and Lost Pond is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. At Muskrat Pond through the summertime highs are in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 20's; overnight lows at Muskrat Pond through the winter mostly descend into the 0's. ...19th century before stillwater. The Carthage road went up the Beaver river drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake. There is an old ghost trail marked with blue soap can lids at the base of the ridge. 85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....
