A tremendous nearby hotel is Econo Lodge Cortland, and Song Mountain is a very popular ski area in the vicinity. For the duration of the summer months at Mud Pond temperatures are mostly in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Mud Pond dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Beaver Creek is one       of the streams nearby that might be worth taking a look at, and Greek Peak has nice slopes and a friendly staff. The yearly rainfall here at Mud Pond is about average; all through the month of September you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Mud Pond you'll probably meet some people from Ithaca, and if you came for an overnight stay Yellow Lantern Kamp Grounds is a tremendous spot to camp.                  If you're a golfer then a pleasant close by course is Lakeview Golf Club, and if the weather is lovely, you acquire a splendid vista of Simms Hill from Mud Pond. Fall Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby; why not camp at Forest Lake Camp Ground while you're here at Mud Pond. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff next to Mud Pond. If you need a place to stay Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Cortland, Ny is a splendid choice; whitewater paddling is good on Sixmile Creek.
