On a great day at Mud Pond you can take a hike along the Taconic Skyline Trail, and if you need a place to stay Knights       Inn Castleton on Hudson/Schodack is a brilliant choice. An average amount of rainfall falls at Mud Pond; the wettest month of the year is commonly June, that's the one that rains the most; February is when it's the driest. Curtis Mountain is easy to spot from Mud Pond; you'll meet a lot of folks from Hudson here. Don't forget to take a delightful little trip to Alder Brook; paddling on Poesten Kill River is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful.
