Do stop by Mud Pond while you're in this part of New York. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Mud Pond; Turner Trail is a great local trail, and it's a wonderful idea to stop at Alder Brook. High temperatures at Mud Pond through the days of summer are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Mud Pond

Go for a hike on the Taconic Skyline Trail. There's so much to do here at Mud Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Alps Family Campground is a great place for that. At Mud Pond you can see Curtis Mountain; after a long day outdoors Chatham Travelodge is a great location to spend a night or two. Good hiking is available along the Brickhouse Mountain Trail; if you like skiing, you're in luck; Jiminy Peak is pretty near.

if you're still looking for more outdoors amusing things just keep reading. Float down the rapids of Poesten Kill River in a kayak; Mud Pond is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Dingman's Campgrounds is a perfect local campground.
From a precipitation point of view Mud Pond is a reasonably normal place; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.
