Go to Mud Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. Mud Pond is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Long Lake Camp is a tremendous local campground, and there's tremendous hiking along the Northville Lake Placid Trail. Drift down the rapids of Raquette River in a kayak, and Grampus Lake Mountain is delightful and can be seen from here. At Mud Pond through the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.

| | The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Mud Pond. Mosquito Pond is a delightful lake in close proximity to Mud Pond, and nearby you locate Kellers Bay. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you came to camp Whispering woods is a good place to do that; there's some flowing water nearby, Big Brook is a stream you can stop by during your stay. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous | |

nearby hotel is Woodlake Inn; if you come at the right time of year, Round Lake Outlet offers some good whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. There are other locations here than Mud Pond, for example McRorie Lake. Mud Pond typically
gets a large amount of precipitation; August is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. The Sucker Brook Trail offers hiking at its best, and why not pop by a swamp like Big Marsh while you're here at Mud Pond.

 | Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
