If you need a location to stay Econo Lodge Lake Placid is a good choice, and hey, Gotta ski right? Mount Pisgah is a tremendous spot to do that. Mud Pond is right by the Phelps Trail; the slopes of Whiteface Mountain are so inviting noone can resist. At Mud Pond through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. The cold days       of the winter come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Mud Pond dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard Lake Placid; Craig Wood Golf & Country Club is a magnificent golf course close by. Soar down the rapids of Ausable River - West Branch in a kayak; possibly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Round Lake is just a very short distance away. Not sufficient hours in a day                  to enjoy this spot. If you come at the right time of year, John's Brook offers some great whitewater, and you could always discover Hi-Notch. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. Camping at Whispering Pines Campground is always a wonderful experience, and you're in all probability interested in lakes, Lower Cascade Lake is one of those close by. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Johns Brook Trail; the top of Pitchoff Mountain is easily seen from Mud Pond. All the outdoors fun stuff in the Adirondack Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Hopkins Trail, and camping is available at Adirondak Loj. Man, is there a heap of enjoyable things to do near Mud Pond. From a rain point of view Mud Pond is a relatively normal place; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month.
