Mud Pond gets much water; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; February is when it's the driest. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Adirondack Mountains. Get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of Great Chazy River, and taking a little tour to close by Seine Bay is a good idea. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mud Pond has to offer, you can camp at Douglas Corp Of Silver

| | Lake, and the Schwartz Trail is a delightful hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Blue Haven Camp Ground; a lake nearby is Chazy Lake. If only every place had this much outdoors cool things, what a great planet it would be. Mud Pond is not the only place close by, Bradley Pond is a close by lake, and if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Silver Lake Mountain Trail. 0's overnight here at Mud Pond. Mud Pond is not far at all from Plattsburgh, and Ellenburg Mountain is clearly visible from Mud Pond. This location, the Adirondack Mountains, has so much outdoors fun things. Take a side tour to
Deep Inlet Brook, and pretty scenery and pleasant skiing is what you obtain at Whiteface Mountain. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Saranac River, and if you need a spot to stay Mirror Lake Inn is a nice choice.

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained.
