Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Catskill Mountains. Tompkins Falls is always fun to check out; if you come at the right time of year, Tremper Kill River offers some great whitewater. Summertime at Mud Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Mud Lake.       You could also have a look at Laurel Lake since you're here at Mud Lake; it's nearby, and Mud Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Covered Bridge Campsite is a magnificent local campground. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Mill Brook, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Ski Plattekill. But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Catskill Mountains. The snow is good at Belleayre. Man, is there lots of exciting things to do next to Mud Lake. Nearby lakes? Sure, Perch Lake is near Mud Lake. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Camp L'Man Achai is a good spot for that. Mud Lake mostly gets a great deal of rain; throughout May this area sees the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful.
