Much rain falls at Moose Pond; the month with most of the rain is August; the driest of the months is February. Moose Pond really is in the middle of a pretty outdoors paradise. Dry warm beds await you at Swiss Acres Inn, and do visit Grass Pond, it's a pretty lake. And if that's not enough there's a load more amusing things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. offer. Have a fine hiking adventure along the McKenzie Pond Trail, and the top of Little McKenzie Mountain is easily made out from Moose Pond. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Moose Pond. Through the moonlight
hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 20's, and overnight lows during the winter for Moose Pond tend to be in the 0's. Here at Moose Pond there are plenty of people from Malone; you can
run the rapids of Ausable River - West Branch. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Now, you may believe that's a lot but there's even more fun things to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. Camping at Pioneer
Village is always a good experience; while you're here you can take a hike along the Schwartz Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody close by loves skiing at Mount Pisgah, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Mountain Lake Inn is a great place to spend a night or two.

Silver Lake Mountain Trail

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained.
