There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Adirondack Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Northville Lake Placid Trail, and a lake close by is Crystal Lake. Stay the night at Long Lake Camp, and if you come at the right time of year, Cedar River offers some perfect whitewater. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Mitchell Ponds is not the only place nearby, Blue Mountain Lake is a nearby lake. The high level of rainfall                  makes Mitchell Ponds a pretty wet place; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Raquette River; there's nice hiking along the Sucker Brook Trail.
