Mendel Pond is a lake worth visiting. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Ten Mile River; nice hiking is available along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. If you're a golfer then a good close by course is Centennial Golf Club of New York, and not far from Mendel Pond you'll discover Lake Tonetta which is a charming lake. This lake is so wonderful. Hilton Garden Inn Danbury is a nice site to get some rest. Lakes? Sure, Ballard Pond is close at hand.

| | Here at Mendel Pond you can see Cornwall Hill, and why not a little side trip to Haviland Hollow Brook. The amount of rainfall that falls at Mendel Pond is close to the national average; most of the rain falls during May while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. While you're here at Mendel Pond you will meet lots of people from close by Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown; Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a great local campground.

Mendel Pond throughout the days of summer highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's while Mendel Pond overnight low temperatures
during the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Tenmile, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Thunder Ridge if you're here.
If you want a great time in the
great outdoors, just come on down to Mendel Pond. After a long day outdoors Danbury Plaza Hotel is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and Mendel Pond is a splendid location to visit for more than one day, Kettletown State Park is a splendid location to camp nearby.
