If you like lakes and you're in this part of New York you can check out Melzingah Reservoir. Howard Johnson Inn is a fine place to get some rest, and you can run the rapids of Moodna Creek. Sterling Forest is a very popular ski area in the vicinity. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at The Thayer Hotel; golf can be played at Fishkill Golf Course & Driving Range.

Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's; overnight lows at Melzingah Reservoir throughout the wintertime mostly sink into the 10's. Just can't get enough of Melzingah Reservoir. Breakneck Brook is a great local stream, and Popolopen Creek is a fine whitewater spot nearby. Melzingah Reservoir gets a great deal of water; of all
the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Camping is available at Sebago Cabins Harriman, and the peak of Bull Hill can be seen from Melzingah Reservoir.
Melzingah Reservoir
