In New York there are many beautiful lakes, Mead Reservoir is one of them. So much fun stuff in the neighborhood of Mead Reservoir, completely unbelievable. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Great Chazy River, and camping is available at Twin Ells Campsites. This lake is so wonderful. Whiteface Mountain is a pleasant local ski area, and if you came for an overnight stay Macomb Reservation is a delightful site to camp. Having a great time in the Adirondack Mountains

Mead Reservoir is located in the Adirondack Mountains. All through the summer months, highs usually are in the 70's at Mead Reservoir. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are regularly in the 20's, and night | |

lows at Mead Reservoir throughout the winter frequently drop into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect nearby hotel is Microtel Inn and Suites Plattsburgh, and Kent Falls is a delightful local attraction. From a precipitation
point of view Mead Reservoir is a quite typical location; most of the rain falls all through August, and February on the other hand is the driest. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains. There are other
places here than Mead Reservoir, for example Scribner Pond, and get soaked paddling on Saranac River. Mead Reservoir is not far at all from Plattsburgh, and after a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Plattsburgh is a great location to spend a night or two.

Salmon River
 | 10 miles away More strainers in this river than I have ever seen, anywhere. Upper part to 87 could be a great run at about 2 1/2 feet(guage on bridge on salmon river rd.) Again, have to be aware of strainers, most are river wide. Dont bother with 87 east to lake champlain, mostly flat with over twenty beaver dams. Lots of leaches.... |

Whiteface Mountain
 | 26 miles away With the greatest vertical drop in the east at 3,166 feet, very few resorts do this better than Whiteface. With long runs over three separate, yet connected areas, you'll spend maximum time on the snow and minimum time on the lifts. There's also Little Whiteface with almost 2,500 vertical feet. And don't forget Kids Kampus which has separate lifts, lodge, ticketing, rentals, snowsports school and child care. This is an outstanding experience for young beginners in a low-key, safe environment. A new area opens during 2008/2009 season. Lookout Mountain looms over the horizon covered with pristine snow. For centuries this is how it has been. Until now. This season, Lookout Mountain will be yours for the first time. This means miles of new trail. Literally undiscovered country for you to fall in love with. Whiteface has another face, so Lookout. For more information about Whiteface, please visit their website at www.whiteface.com... |
