Powlish Pond is a nearby lake that you could check out,       and you can run the rapids of Mad River. This lake is so wonderful. Fort Stanwix National Monument is a very magnificent site to explore next to McCarthys Lake, and a lake nearby is Bloodsucker Lake. This place, McCarthys Lake, it just has so much outdoors cool stuff. East Fork Salmon River flows through this region, and why not camp at Treasure Isle RV Park since you're here at McCarthys Lake. A great close by hotel is Quality Inn Rome, and get your                  pulse rate up on the tremendous whitewater of Fish Creek - East Branch. At McCarthys Lake during the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's.
