Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Rondout Creek, and Super 8 - Highland is a delightful site to get some rest. Marx Pond is a wet place that gets a large amount of precipitation; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Wallkill River for all you       adrenaline junkies, and you're sure to run into some smiling people from Kingston here. Pancake Hollow Brook is a good local stream; you can stay the night at Ulster County Four-h Camp. So much cool stuff close to Marx Pond, just fantastic. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Marx Pond has to offer, you can camp at Hidden Valley Lake, and there are other places here than Marx Pond, for example Chodikee Lake. Gotta ski! Hunter Mountain is                  a good site to do that, and not far from Marx Pond you'll hit upon Lily Lake which is a pretty lake. Illinois Mountain can be spotted from Marx Pond, and if you need a location to stay Super 8 Motel - Highland, New York is a brilliant choice. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Marx Pond. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Marx Pond temperatures descend to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
