After a long day outdoors Village Motel is a good location to spend a night or two, and don't leave Lake Maratanza without first paying a visit to Verkeerder Kill Falls. Lake Maratanza sees pretty high levels of precipitation; most of the rain falls during May, and the driest month is February. Camping at Rainbow Valley Campground is always a good experience; Vernooy Kill River is a tremendous       whitewater spot close by. Throughout the months of summer at Lake Maratanza temperatures are usually in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Lake Maratanza temperatures plunge to the 10's. Playing golf is lots of fun at Shawangunk Country Club; no need to travel far to take a look at out of the ordinary stuff like Indian Rock. You'll                  wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff at Lake Maratanza. People from Kingston love to come to Lake Maratanza, and there's pleasant hiking along the Kanape Jeep Trail. Good hiking is available along the Vernooy Falls Trail, and you can run the rapids of Rondout Creek. This lake is so wonderful. At Lake Maratanza you can see Mount Don Bosco, and Jeronimo Hotel is a good location to get some rest.
