After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Mt. Kisco (Westchester Cty),Ny is a nice place to spend a night or two, and playing golf is lots of fun at Mahopac Golf Club. Dry warm beds await you at Le Chambord, and float down the rapids of Wappinger Creek in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. Why not pop by Mahopac Point also if you're here, and there are fine sites to explore along the       Appalachian National Scenic Trail. All the outdoors amusing stuff near Lake Mahopac will keep you coming back again and again. A pretty lake like Wixon Pond near Lake Mahopac is a wonderful place to go to, and Hitchcock Hill is lovely and can be distinguished from here. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Thunder Ridge is in close proximity to Lake Mahopac, and you'll most likely meet some people from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. Do go to Mud                  Pond near Lake Mahopac, it's a beautiful lake. There's so much to do here at Lake Mahopac that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Kiwi is a brilliant location for that. Lake Mahopac gets a lot of water; through May this area sees the most rain while January is usually the driest month. If you come at the right time of year, Popolopen Creek offers some great whitewater, and if you came to camp Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a great spot to do that. High temperatures at Lake Mahopac through the warm months are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's.
