A visit to Lyons Pond is always a good idea. Throughout the long summer days at Lyons Pond temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Throughout the wintertime highs are commonly in the 30's with temperatures at Lyons Pond dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Dingman's Campgrounds is always a glorious experience, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Taconic Skyline Trail.
Camping is available at Alps Family Campground, and do take a hike on the Brickhouse Mountain
Trail. Mashodack Hill is beautiful and can be seen from Lyons Pond; if you're a golfer then a splendid nearby course is Burden Lake Country Club. After a long day outdoors Bel Air Motel is a good place to spend a night or two; hiking
along the Turner Trail is pleasant fun.
This lake is so wonderful. Hit the slopes at Jiminy Peak in close proximity, and if you've had enough of Lyons Pond, Cleveland Pond is nearby. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Catamount; whitewater paddling is magnificent on Kinderhook Creek.
