Drift down the rapids of Ninemile Creek in a kayak, and stopping by Fort Stanwix National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. From a rain point of view Lyons Pond is a relatively normal site; September is the month that gets the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. Do take a look at Madison Lake right next door to Lyons                  Pond, it's a wonderful lake; if you're dropping by from Utica-Rome, you won't be the only one.
