There's so much to do here at Lyon Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sunshine Acres Camp & Conferen is a splendid spot for that, and there are great locations to explore along the Vernooy Falls Trail. Summertime at Lyon Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Lyon Lake dipping down into the 0's during       winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Near Lyon Lake you find a golf course called Shawangunk Country Club, and Lyon Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Rondout Valley Camping Resort is a magnificent local campground. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Vernooy Kill River, and almost certainly you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Kerhonkson Reservoir is just a very short distance away. There are some nice whitewater spots on Rondout                  Creek; after a long day outdoors Lexington at Hudson Valley Resort is a wonderful place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of people from Kingston here at Lyon Lake, and brilliant hiking is available along the Comfort Trail. Lyon Creek flows through this vicinity, and a great close by hotel is Nevele Grande Resort. The high level of rain makes Lyon Lake a pretty wet spot; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. Any time is a wonderful time at Lyon Lake if you love the outdoors.
