Jane Daniels: Lounsbury Pond is in Blue Mountain Reservation and not really that close to the Appalachian Trail or Beaver Pond. Sterling Forest is about 45 minutes away. You cannot camp at Blue Mountain Reservation. Stillwater Lake is in Putnam County and the trail near it is unmarked and not named.

If you are in this part of New York make sure to pay a visit to Lounsbury Pond. Lounsbury Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is regularly the driest month. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Lounsbury Pond, and the night is a bit cooler of course, regularly in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are mostly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures

Ny, of course you could also explore Lake Mitchell since you're here; it's not far at all. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lounsbury Pond; Woodtown Trail is a delightful local trail; a lake close by is Petersons Pond. Go
for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Stillwell Lake Trail; a tour to Charles Point is always a delightful idea. There's so much to do here at Lounsbury
Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Beaver Pond is a splendid spot for that, and as expected Annsville Creek flows through this vicinity. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Popolopen Creek. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Lounsbury Pond has to offer, you can camp at Camp Discovery.
