There's whitewater on Hudson River for all you adrenaline people, and Loughberry Lake is not far at all from Albany-Schenectady-Troy. Loughberry
Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; May is the month that gets the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Gotta ski! West Mountain is a fine place to do that, and Adirondack Adventure Resorts is a tremendous campground nearby.
