     McCauley Mountain is a very popular ski area close at hand, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Beaver River. This lake is so wonderful. Get drenched paddling on Oswegatchie River - Middle Branch, and why not stop at a swamp like Desert Swamp if you're here at Lost Pond. Lakes are perfect; Desert Pond is a lake that's near Lost Pond, and there's some flowing water nearby, Compos Creek is a stream you can check out while here. The amount of rainfall that falls  
   at Lost Pond is close to the national average; August is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
Good hiking is available along the Post Henderson Trail; unsurprisingly, this is a delightful neighborhood for folks who like lakes, Little Mudhole is a lake close at hand. Summertime highs at Lost Pond regularly tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs
 
               in the 20's; night lows at Lost Pond all through the winter usually sink into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. During your journey to Lost Pond you'll meet some folks from Ogdensburg-Massena for sure.
There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Lost Pond. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lost Pond; Salmon Lake Trail is a good local trail, and a delightful place to camp here at Lost Pond is Singing waters Campground. The Norridge Trail offers hiking at its best, and camping is available at Nicks Lake Campgrounds.

85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....
