Really nice skiing awaits you at McCauley Mountain; in case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Oswegatchie River - Middle Branch. You'll stumble on a gorgeous lake called Rock Pond near Long Pond. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Long Pond has to offer,       you can camp at Moose River Camp Grounds. This lake is so wonderful. Bald Mountain is picturesque and can be observed from Long Pond, and since you're here, you could take a look at Roaring Brook. Through the warmest time of the year highs here at Long Pond get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are typically in the 20's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Long Pond tend to be in the 0's. Long Pond                  is a good spot of normal rainfall; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest. There's so much to do here at Long Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Singing waters Campground is a great spot for that; if you like swamps you're in luck, Bear Swamp is right nearby. You definitely have to like Long Pond. A picturesque lake like Round Pond right next door to Long Pond is a pleasant site to go to; if you're here you can take a hike along the Salmon Lake Trail.
