Long Lake Reservoir is a lake worth visiting. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Long Lake Reservoir. Polliwog Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by; Hoss's Country Campground is a splendid campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Raquette River, and Long Lake Reservoir is a perfect spot to visit for more than one day, Whispering

| | woods is a perfect spot to camp nearby. And if that's not enough there's plenty more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Do stop by Shaw Pond near Long Lake Reservoir, it's a picturesque lake, and it's a great idea to check out Sandy Creek. Hiking along the Northville Lake Placid Trail is pleasant fun, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Rock River. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Reservoir through the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are usually in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Long Lake Reservoir are
in the 0's. A good deal of rain falls at Long Lake Reservoir; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Now, you may imagine that's a load
but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. Burnt Mountain is clearly visible from Long Lake Reservoir. Going for a hike along the Sucker Brook Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity; after a long day outdoors Woodlake Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two.

 | Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
