    It's always fun to stop by Little Pine Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The annual precipitation here at Little Pine Lake is about average; during August this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Adirondack Mountains has to offer. Good hiking is available along the Twin Lakes Trail; don't leave Little Pine Lake without first going for a hike along the Forty Mountain  
   Trail.
If you like skiing, you're in luck; McCauley Mountain is in close proximity to Little Pine Lake, and there are great places to explore along the Stone Dam Trail. Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! The Adirondack Mountains is excellent! There's so much to do here at Little Pine Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cold Brook Campsites is a fine place for that, and if you're here, you could also stop by beautiful Mudhole Pond. Man,
 
               is there plenty of exciting things to do close to Little Pine Lake. In the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Moose River, and Middle Branch Pine Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting.
For the period of the warm months here at Little Pine Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Little Pine Lake. If you came to camp Moose River Camp Grounds is a good place to do that, and the skiing at Snow Ridge is good. This lake is so wonderful. Moose River - Middle Branch has a nice whitewater paddling spot close by, and Pine Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit.

Forty Mountain Trail

Since 2001, it has become a bushwhack and can be close to impossible in the spring and summer to find the blazes that indicate the trail. Wet seasons can make the slopes tretcherous, and the trail dissapears at the base of the mountain. One must plot a compass course or use a GPS. The summit offers limited views of the Black River area of the southwestern Adirondacks. Watch for black bears, as they are numerous in this region....

On 7/7/2009...
85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....
