At Little Chief Pond all through the days of  
   summer highs are in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Little Chief Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. Hit the slopes at McCauley Mountain around here, and some nearby water includes Andys Creek. Drift down the rapids of Indian River in a kayak, and Sugarloaf can be distinguished from Little Chief Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Craig Point is rather close
 
               to Little Chief Pond. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Little Chief Pond has to offer, you can camp at Browns Tract Pond State Campground.
So many enjoyable things in the vicinity of Little Chief Pond, absolutely phenomenal. After a long day outdoors Knights Inn Little Falls is a splendid place to spend a night or two, and golf can be played at Thendara Golf Club. Get soaked paddling on Moose River - South Branch; Little Chief Pond is right by the Salmon Lake Trail. Little Chief Pond is a quite wet place generally with a good deal of precipitation; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
Little Chief Pond is one of the lakes here in the Adirondack Mountains. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Gull Lakes is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and the Norridge Trail offers hiking at its best.

Terror Lake
...low bays and a deep center between its two lobs. It is dead to fish. It was named in the early 19th century before stillwater. The Carthage road went up the Beaver river drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake. 85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....
