Latham Pond is a nice lake to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Woodlake Inn; you can go for a hike on the Northville Lake Placid Trail. There's so much to do here at Latham Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Cherokee is a nice site for that; lakes are such serene spots, why not stop by Seward Pond. The amount of precipitation that falls at Latham Pond is close to the national average; of all the months in a year August

| | is the one with the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You'll hit upon a gorgeous lake called Round Pond near Latham Pond; there's whitewater on Rock River for all you adrenaline rush seekers. A pleasant trip to Shattuck Clearing is a tremendous way to spend an afternoon, and naturally Boulder Brook is a beautiful stream that is worth visiting. no way someone can get bored here in the Adirondack Mountains. If you need a place to stay Best Western Mountain Lake Inn is a great choice. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Latham Pond has to offer, you can camp
at Cedar Pond Campground. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not enough time. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mount Pisgah, and Big Eddy is always fun to check out. All through the months
of summer at Latham Pond highs are usually in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 20's while Latham Pond night low temperatures
during the wintertime are in the 0's. Good hiking is available along the McKenzie Pond Trail. This spot is unbeatable, just explore all the cool stuff to do right next door to Latham Pond. Don't leave Latham Pond without first
going for a hike along the Indian Pass Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Cold River.

 | 14 miles away Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
