     There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Thunder Ridge. There's so much to do here at The Lake in the Ledges that you need to camp here for a while, Soundview Sports is a brilliant place for that. This lake is so wonderful. During your journey to The Lake in the Ledges you'll meet some folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown for sure, and why not take a little visit to Grays Pond Brook while you're here. Through the warmest time of the year here  
   at The Lake in the Ledges, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for The Lake in the Ledges. There are other locations here than The Lake in the Ledges, for example Grays Pond, and playing golf is lots of fun at Pound Ridge Golf Club.
What a location this is for outdoors people. The Lake in the Ledges is great
 
               enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Kiwi is a great local campground; if you need a place to stay La Quinta Inn and Suites Armonk is a magnificent choice. This lake is so wonderful. Mianus Gorge is a wonderful location to explore. Not far from The Lake in the Ledges, you'll hit upon Robin Hood Lake which is a picturesque lake, and glide down the rapids of Norwalk River in a kayak.
The scenery at Grays Pond Dam near The Lake in the Ledges is striking, and a magnificent close by hotel is Cos Cob Inn. All the water falling down from the sky makes The Lake in the Ledges a wet spot; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is January.

... sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd elem....

Do you have any pictures of camp henry?  My father went there in the 1920's.  The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!...
