This is a delightful area for folks who like lakes. First Reservoir is a lake nearby, and Candlewood Suites Nanuet-Rockland County, Ny is a great site to get some rest. A swamp like Grape Swamp near Lake Welch has lots of interesting things to see, and the Breakneck Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. There are some delightful whitewater       spots on Ramapo River. There's so much to do here at Lake Welch that you need to camp here for a while, Beaver Pond is a great place for that. That right there is plenty already, but it carries on; Lake Welch has it all. Lake Welch is right by the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail, and a golf course close by is Minisceongo Golf Club. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Second Reservoir is right next door to Lake Welch; get yourself into a kayak and                  hit Popolopen Creek. There's fine hiking along the Woodtown Trail; the snow is splendid at Sterling Forest. A day on the slopes of Mt. Peter is just what you need, and getting to Beaver Pond Brook from Lake Welch is painless. A pleasant beach near Lake Welch is Old Sebago Beach; if you want a little side journey, try File Factory Hollow. A fine close by hotel is Howard Johnson Inn, and if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend New Sebago Beach. All through the summer months at Lake Welch temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's while Lake Welch nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. Lake Welch usually gets lots of rainfall; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
