Robert Moses is a great campground nearby, and Ramapo River has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot close by. For the period of the summertime months highs here at Lake Skemonto get into the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Lake Skemonto dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. What would winter be without some skiing       at Mt. Peter. This lake is so wonderful. A spree to Old Sebago Beach near Lake Skemonto is always a good idea, and the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail is a fine hiking trail close by. Near Lake Skemonto you stumble on the Pine Meadow Trail which is a great hiking trail; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Lake Sebago. Going for a hike on the Kakiat Trail is always a glorious adventure, and New Sebago Beach is a picturesque                  beach to go to. All the outdoors amusing things in close proximity to Lake Skemonto will keep you coming back again and again. A splendid swamp in close proximity to Lake Skemonto is Black Ash Swamp, and paddling on Popolopen Creek is so much fun. A delightful nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Suffern, Ny, and while you're here, you could have a look at Diamond Creek. Having a magnificent time at Lake Skemonto is easy. Gotta ski! Sterling Forest is a great location to do that, and Spook Rock Golf Course is a nice golf course close by. Not far from Lake Skemonto, you'll locate Little Long Pond which is a lovely lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Camp wabenaki is a pleasant location to camp. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Howard Johnson Inn is a fine location to spend a night or two, and the peak of Black Ash Mountain can be spotted from Lake Skemonto.
