If you are in this part of New York make sure to pay a visit to Lake Shenorock. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Mt. Kisco (Westchester Cty),Ny is a tremendous choice, and if you're here and you like golf, you can stop by Sanctuary Country Club. And if that's not enough, there's heaps more to do in the vicinity of Lake Shenorock. The skiing at Thunder Ridge is great; there are plenty of people from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown

Lake Shenorock gets a large amount of water; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is January. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Lake Shenorock. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. Through the winter highs are regularly in the 30's while Lake Shenorock overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid place to camp here at | |

Lake Shenorock is Clarence Fahnestock State Park, and get your pulse rate up on the wonderful whitewater of Popolopen Creek.
Lake Shenorock is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Kiwi is a perfect local campground,
and you can run the rapids of Wappinger Creek. You could also explore Lake Lincolndale since you're here at Lake Shenorock; it's close by; Edith Macy Conference Center is a brilliant place to get some rest. Looking for something right
next door to Lake Shenorock? Glencoma Lake is in close proximity, and hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is pleasant fun.

The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. | ... I lived in the three story pink house on chestnut ridge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake wi... |
