If you come at the right time of year, Popolopen Creek offers some great whitewater, as expected you could also pop by Lake Lincolndale if you're here; it's not far at all. Edith Macy Conference Center is a great place to get some rest. There's so much to do here at Lake Shenorock that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Kiwi is a glorious site for that. | | a good choice, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Wappinger Creek. Thunder Ridge has brilliant slopes and a friendly staff; Lake Shenorock is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a delightful local campground.

you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood; if you're a golfer then a pleasant nearby course is Sanctuary Country Club. While you're here at Lake Shenorock you will meet lots of people from nearby Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown,
and if you've had enough of Lake Shenorock, Glencoma Lake is close by. This lake is so wonderful.
During the summer months here at Lake Shenorock, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down
to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are usually in the 30's; night lows in the 10's for Lake Shenorock. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Shenorock a wet place; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is January.

The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!... |

| ...rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went... |
