Lake Julia, and Red Roof Inn Utica is a good location to get some rest.
Lake Julia sees pretty high levels of rain; September is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. A nice nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Utica; for you golfers we recommend nearby Alder Creek Golf Course & Country Inn. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Little Black Creek has a fine whitewater paddling spot nearby, and at Lake

Julia you can distinguish Bailey Hills.
Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Adirondack Mountains is great!. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. And if that's not sufficient there's lots more exciting stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Hiking along the Stone Dam Trail is perfect fun, and do put some time aside to spend at Crandall Falls while you're here at Lake Julia.
That right there is lots already, but it keeps on going; Lake Julia has it all. There's some flowing water close by, Beaver Meadow Brook is a stream you can check out during your stay, and Woods Valley is a very popular ski area around here. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Black River, and you can have a delightful hiking adventure along the Forty Mountain Trail. Now, you may believe that's a lot but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. Why not camp at Kayuta Lake Campground while you're here at Lake Julia, and a lovely lake like Evans Pond is a great place to have a look at.
This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Party Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and people from Utica-Rome love to come here.

Cincinnati Creek
You cant raft this, not enough water. Try the West Canada Creek, much more water flow....

Forty Mountain Trail
Since 2001, it has become a bushwhack and can be close to impossible in the spring and summer to find the blazes that indicate the trail. Wet seasons can make the slopes tretcherous, and the trail dissapears at the base of the mountain. One must plot a compass course or use a GPS. The summit offers limited views of the Black River area of the southwestern Adirondacks. Watch for black bears, as they are numerous in this region....

Chub Pond
I love hiking back to this pond! It is absolutely beautiful! The trail was a little muddy from atv's, but the trek is worth it. the loons were incredible to watch, and once i saw the arora borealis there too!...
