There's so much to do here at Lake Gleneida that you need to camp here for a while, Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a good place for that, and why not head up to Thunder Ridge and strap some skis to your feet. Through the summer months here at Lake Gleneida, high temperatures usually get into the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 60's. | | drop into the 10's. Lakes are such serene places, why not visit West Branch Reservoir near Lake Gleneida; on a lovely day you acquire a nice sight of Mount Pisgah from Lake Gleneida. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Tenmile; you can go for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The high level of rainfall makes Lake Gleneida a quite wet site; through May this area sees the most rain; January is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Here at Lake Gleneida you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown; if you come at the right time of year, Wappinger Creek offers some great whitewater. You'll find a lovely lake called Palmer
Lake near Lake Gleneida, and if you came to camp Camp Kiwi is a splendid site to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Inn at Arbor Ridge and Cnf Ctr is a splendid place to get some rest; enjoy a round of golf at Centennial Golf Club
of New York. Yep, outdoors fun stuff to do are really bountiful here at Lake Gleneida. If you need a site to stay Le Chambord is a splendid choice; unsurprisingly Horse Pound Brook is a beautiful stream that is worth checking out.

Dixon Lake
 | ...te sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd ele... |

The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!... |

 | 18 miles away Lounsbury Pond is in Blue Mountain Reservation and not really that close to the Appalachian Trail or Beaver Pond. Sterling Forest is about 45 minutes away. You cannot camp at Blue Mountain Reservation. Stillwater Lake is in Putnam County and the trail near it is unmarked and not named.... |
