Kinderhook Lake is a nice lake to visit. Catamount is a good local ski area; get yourself into a kayak and hit Kinderhook Creek. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. At Kinderhook Lake you always meet someone from Hudson, obviously you could also pop by Knickerbocker Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. For the duration of the summertime months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Kinderhook Lake; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.

| | High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Kinderhook Lake are in the 10's. A great nearby hotel is Knights Inn Castleton on Hudson/Schodack, and why not take a little visit to Valatie Kill while you're here. A common amount of rain falls here at Kinderhook Lake; throughout June this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Dingman's | |

Campgrounds is a brilliant site to do that; a round of golf at nearby Winding Brook Country Club is a glorious way to kill some time. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Cedar Grove Campground is always a great experience, and most
likely you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Merwin Lake is just a very short distance away. Comfort Inn & Suites is a tremendous site to get some rest; there are some good whitewater spots on Hannacrois Creek.

Kinderhook Creek
 | There is a lot to run on the Kinderhook above Valatie. In fact, it can be run all the way from above E. Nassau. At E. Nassau, a nice boulder garden class II-III proceeds, with water attractions all the way to Valatie. Getting out at Valatie is difficult but necessary before the dam....There are two impassable waterfalls 60 plus feet high about two miles south of the Valatie water fall. There is no viable way around these falls without climbing down steep cliffs. We stopped about a half mile above the two stuyvesant falls. My understanding is there are old mill dams before you get to stockport. Somebody gave you really bad dangerous info.... |

Jiminy Peak
 | 26 miles away 4 PHOTOS ...ring 45 trails and 3 terrain parks on 1,150 feet of vertical rise. Located in Hancock, MA, Jiminy Peak is capable of making snow on 93% of its terrain, and lighting 20 of its trails allowing for night skiing until 10pm. It is the home of the Berkshire Express, the region's only 6 passenger high-speed chairlift, which brings you to the summit in less than 5 minutes! The mountain is also served by 2 quads, 3 triples, a double, and two magic carpets.
In 2007, Jiminy Peak became the first ski resort to construct its own wind turbine on property, for the purpose of powering its operations. Named Zephyr, the turbine stands 386 feet tall, and produces about a third of the total energy requirements of the resort.
Jiminy Peak's Base Area includes a beautiful Village Center that addresses all of your needs. As you arrive and unload in the drop off area, you first notice the Paul Major welcome center. Inside you'll find the Guest Services desk, as well as a Renewable Energy Education Center. Across the way, the conveniently located Burbank Children's Center is home to Jiminy's Ski... |
