| | up on the splendid whitewater of Esopus Creek. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this site. Not far from Lake Katrine, you'll come across Devils Lake which is a scenic lake, and if you're here you can play some golf at Wiltwyck Country Club. Now, you may assume that's a lot but there's even more cool things to do here in the Catskill Mountains. Gotta ski! Hunter Mountain is a magnificent site to do that, and Glenerie Falls is a great local attraction. Camping | |

at Blue Mt Camp Ground is always a fine experience, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Willow Trail. And if that's not enough there's a load more entertaining stuff to do in the Catskill Mountains. Courtyard
by Marriott Kingston is a perfect place to get some rest; why not a little side visit to Plattekill Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Superlodge, and a wonderful site to camp here at Lake Katrine is Saugerties/Woodstock
KOA. The Catskill Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Lake Katrine gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; May is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.

Ashokan Reservoir
 | 16 miles away ...tershed_protection/recreation. Shtml The permit is free. Boating on the reservoir is also by permit only, and only for qualified rowboats that are registered with the DEP. No canoes, kyaks, sailboats, motorboats, etc... Are allowed on the Ashokan. The main posting is somewhat misleading because the only places open to the casual visitor are the public throughfares, which does include the now closed (to traffic) road over the Ashokan dam that is mentioned. All other use of reservoir property is severely restricted, and by permit only. DO NOT test the DEP police who patrol reservoir property... They are very professional and stone cold serious about DEP regulations. If you are entering an area that says, ''... By Permit Only'', take it seriously and avoid legal hassles that can include hefty fines and even jail time. If you come across a ''NO ENTRANCE'' or ''NO ADMITTANCE'' sign, do yourself a favor and do not ignore it! The Ashokan is indeed a beautiful day-stop, but you must keep in mind that its primary purpose is to supply NYC with clean, safe drinking water. As long as we all obey... |
