There's so much to do here at John Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a glorious place for that. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Popolopen Creek is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. Branton Woods Golf Club is a good golf course close by; dry warm beds await you at Le Chambord. Do check out Sagamore Lake near John Pond, it's a pretty lake; Wappinger Creek       has a tremendous whitewater paddling spot nearby. There are splendid spots to explore along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and you can stay the night at Sylvan Lake Beach Park. Gem Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Thunder Ridge is pretty near.
