If you like lakes and you're in this part of New York you can check out Jims Pond. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Jims Pond, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Jims Pond are in the 10's. Jims Pond is not the only place close by, Round Pond is a close by lake; Mt. Peter has good slopes and a friendly staff. This lake is so wonderful.

| | Get yourself into a kayak and hit Moodna Creek, and if you need a place to stay Econo Lodge Highland Falls is a brilliant choice. A lake nearby is Tamarack Pond, and on a delightful day you get a great panorama of Black Rock from Jims Pond. Going for a hike on the Woodtown Trail is always a great adventure; good skiing awaits you at Sterling Forest. nearby, and there is a splendid hiking trail close by called the Stillwell Lake Trail. Beaver Pond is a good local campground, and float down the rapids of Popolopen Creek in a kayak. And if that's not enough, there's heaps more to
do close to Jims Pond. Near Jims Pond you find the Appalachian National Scenic Trail which is a splendid hiking trail; close by you hit upon Black Rock Hollow which is a wonderful place to stop by. Jims Pond sees pretty high levels
of rainfall; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest.
