It's always fun to stop by Island Lake. A large amount of precipitation falls at Island Lake; through the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Old Sebago Beach is practically right here, and hiking along the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail is wonderful fun. The skiing at Sterling Forest is good, and you'll discover a delightful lake called Anona Lake.

| | close by hotel is Howard Johnson Inn; get your pulse rate up on the wonderful whitewater of Popolopen Creek. That right there is lots already, but it goes on; Island Lake has it all. Camping at Island Lake is magnificent fun, Kaufmann Henry Campgrounds is a magnificent local campground, and Courtyard Montvale is a glorious spot to get some rest.

paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Ramapo River. And that's not all you can do here at Island Lake. Looking for some flowing water? Try Pine Brook, and Mt. Peter is a pleasant local ski area. Take
a hike on the Conklins Crossing; an afternoon playing golf at Spook Rock Golf Course is always a bliss.
Summertime highs at Island Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures
through the winter are normally in the 30's, and night lows at Island Lake through the winter regularly drop into the 10's. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Sherwood Path; the top of Spook Rock is easily made out from Island Lake.
