     Have a perfect hiking adventure along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; there are plenty of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. Howlands Lake gets a good deal of water; the month with most of the rain is May; the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Norwalk River offers some fine whitewater; you'll come across a stunning lake called Byram Lake Reservoir. You'll need more than a  
   day to discover everything Howlands Lake has to offer, you can camp at Camp Kiwi; after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn MT. KISCO (WESTCHESTER COUNTY) is a tremendous place to spend a night or two.
Thunder Ridge is a very popular ski area close at hand, and enjoy a round of golf at Glenarbor Golf Club. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things in close proximity to Howlands Lake. A scenic lake like Lake Marie near Howlands Lake is a great location
 
               to go to; on a wonderful day you get a tremendous sight of Guard Hill from Howlands Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Soundview Sports.
All through the summertime months highs here at Howlands Lake reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are typically in the 30's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Howlands Lake temperatures sink to the 10's. If you need a place to stay La Quinta Inn and Suites Armonk is a nice choice, and why not a little side trip to Shallow Brook.

Do you have any pictures of camp henry?  My father went there in the 1920's.  The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!...

...tmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd elem.my age now is forty nine,...
