A visit to Hour Pond is always a good idea. Hour Pond is one of the lakes here in the Adirondack Mountains. But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. A good view of scenic Buck Meadow Mountain is available from Hour Pond, and swamps can be such out of the ordinary locations, stop by Buck Meadow Flow while you're here at Hour Pond. There are some good whitewater spots on Hudson River, and Lake George/Warrensburg Super 8 Motel is a great

| | place to get some rest. During the warm days of summer highs here at Hour Pond get into the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Hour Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Gore Mountain is one of those things you just must do. Pond which is a stunning lake, and don't leave Hour Pond without first going for a hike along the Oregon Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. There's so much to do here at Hour Pond that you need
to camp here for a while, Cedar Pond Campground is a good site for that, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Hour Pond; Sucker Brook Trail is a glorious local trail. Hour Pond Brook is one of the streams nearby that might be
worth visiting; great hiking is available along the Northville Lake Placid Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Cedar River offers some magnificent whitewater. Lakes? Sure, Twin Ponds is around
here. Hour Pond is a good place of typical precipitation; August is the wettest month with most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.

Northville Lake Placid Trail
 | 16 miles away Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
